coldsprings-2We headeColdspringsd towards Fernley on the Loneliest Highway, 50. We drove several hours until we decided it was too windy and found Cold Springs RV park. We stayed there for 2 days. Natalie wrote a review about the park and it can be read here. Review: RV Camping at Cold Springs Station RV Park

coldsprings-pony-express 2While staying at the RV park, we learned about an old Pony Express Station that was nearby. It was a mile and a half hike through the desert, but worth the hike. The trail was kind of maintained. There were plaques at the site telling us about the different rooms in the station. We added the location on our places to see map.

desert rose jobAfter our stay at Cold Springs, we headed towards our home for the next several months. Once we hit Fallon, our first thought was, Walmart! Then, STOP LIGHTS! PEOPLE! It was then we realized that leaving cities and civilization is nice, but the convenience of them can be missed as well.

We got to Desert Rose RV park and met Debbie the owner.natalie work She showed us around the park and briefly explained our duties. Natalie has the office and I will be working outside the grounds. We explored the town a bit. It’s small, but it has a Walmart and a few stop lights. We can’t wait to start!

The lesson of the week: In Nevada, Walmart + Stoplight = Civilization
